Before anyone could react, Gu Bai’s figure had already reached the stairwell and disappeared in the blink of an eye.
=口= So fast! → This was the reaction of the siblings Lu Jie and Lu Jia’er.
Uniformly turned their gaze towards Qiguan Rui → This was from Xin E and Liu Manluo, the two women.
Qiguan Rui’s smile faltered for a second, but he quickly resumed his conversation with Lu Jie.
Lu Jia’er continued blushing, while Xin E and Liu Manluo exchanged a glance. Somehow, a sense of unspoken understanding seemed to pass between them.
The group continued drinking and eating, though the two women noticed that Qiguan Rui’s movements, while still smooth and confident, were nearly twice as fast as before. Even his charming smiles became noticeably more perfunctory.
Liu Manluo sighed. She had thought this was the perfect chance to intervene—after all, if even that little girl could get Qiguan Rui’s attention, surely she, a beauty, would have no problem. But the moment Ziche Shubai left, this man couldn’t hold himself together. It seemed she’d need a longer-term strategy.
With that thought, she exchanged another glance with Xin E, and the two downed a glass of wine together. Thus, what could have been a two-hour meal was finished in just one.
Qiguan Rui bid farewell to the Lu siblings with his usual disarming smile. However, his steps as he ascended the stairs seemed light but purposeful.
He pushed open the door to the room. But the room was empty.
Qiguan Rui’s smile froze. He glanced around; there was no one. The place was spotless—so clean that even the clothes were gone, as though no one had ever been there.
His face darkened. “…Gege?” He forced down the storm in his chest and called softly.
No response.
The next moment, his expression twisted. He’d left—Ziche Shubai had dared to leave his side! He had thought they shared an understanding. He had thought Ziche Shubai would never abandon him again. Why—he had even assumed Ziche Shubai had been jealous earlier. He’d been so overjoyed in his heart… He had hurried here so eagerly…
Qiguan Rui’s eyes darkened with rage, slowly shifting to a mad gleam. His fingers dug deeply into his own flesh as his chest burned with boundless fury. Ziche Shubai, gege… If I catch you—if I catch you!
At the moment Qiguan Rui’s pupils shifted into snake-like slits, his senses sharpened dramatically. That was when he suddenly caught the faintest sound of water. Just a single splash, but it was enough to halt his frenzied aura.
In an instant, Qiguan Rui appeared at the door to the bathhouse and pushed it open. A moment ago, he had sensed no one, but now he realised someone was indeed inside. He immediately captured the familiar scent.
Ziche Shubai… hadn’t left.
Qiguan Rui nearly rushed in. The wooden door slammed against the wall with a thunderous crash. Yet, the noise seemed to have no effect on the person within.
Steam swirled around the pool, white mist rising gently from the surface. A tall, slender young man sat quietly in the water, his long hair cascading down his back. The damp strands glistened like ink, highlighting skin as white as jade, smooth and lustrous.
He wasn’t fragile; even in his unguarded state, his physique spoke of evenly distributed strength beneath the sleek surface, a balance of grace and power.
Qiguan Rui’s breathing slowed as he pressed down the storm in his heart. As long as this person was here, nothing else mattered. He entered the bathhouse and shut the door behind him.
The man in the pool seemed to sense something, standing slowly. Crystal-clear water droplets slid down his bare back. When he turned around, his expression was cold and aloof. But framed by the mist, that very aloofness exuded an ethereal air, like someone otherworldly, ready to ascend to immortality.
Qiguan Rui’s earlier anger melted away completely, replaced by an overwhelming desire. He wanted to pin this man beneath him, to meld their bodies together so thoroughly that the other couldn’t escape—to make him his, utterly and irrevocably.
“Gege…” Qiguan Rui smiled softly, his pupils turning crimson. The beast was awake.
Then the man in the water spoke. “Hmm?”
It was just a single syllable, devoid of emotion or allure. Yet it was enough to set a fire blazing in Qiguan Rui’s chest. He traced his fingers down the front of his robe, shedding it entirely to reveal a lithe, muscular body beneath. In a blur, he was by the man’s side, wrapping him in a gentle yet possessive embrace. “Gege, you’re mine…” he murmured with a soft laugh. “Remember that gege. You belong to me alone.”
The mist grew denser, enveloping the two as they entwined at the pool’s edge. The clear sound of splashing water mixed with the rhythmic “pa pa” of flesh meeting flesh, punctuated by restrained, muffled moans.
Their passionate entanglement lasted for hours. The entire night passed without either of them leaving the room.
The next morning, Gu Bai woke in Qiguan Rui’s arms. Other than a sore waist, he felt fine—his low-level wu wang body was impressively resilient. He had been pressed down the entire night, but honestly… it was invigorating. Fine, he had enjoyed it too.
As Gu Bai stared at Qiguan Rui’s face, the latter opened his eyes, his expression brimming with tenderness. “Gege, you’re awake. Are you tired?”
Gu Bai’s face was blank. “If you’re worried about me being tired, you could’ve stopped earlier.”
Qiguan Rui’s smile froze.
Gu Bai cringed inwardly. Why did he let his guard down around this pervert and say that out loud?
Qiguan Rui chuckled softly. “Gege, you’re adorable…” He nuzzled Gu Bai’s face. “Next time, if you can’t take it, just tell me to stop. I’ll listen.”
Gu Bai felt the urge to sneer. A true pervert would never back down. What’s this nonsense about ‘if you can’t take it’? Doesn’t he know that’s the last thing a man wants to hear? Who’s weak? You’re weak! Your whole family is weak!
Sure, his stamina was impressive, but yesterday, didn’t he leap into action the moment I beckoned? Who’s showing off now?
Yes, Gu Bai had done it on purpose.
Feeling inexplicably annoyed yesterday, he had decided to make the pervert even more frustrated. The moment he entered the room, he had submerged himself in the bath to unwind, suppressing all his wu qi to remain undetectable.
Even when Qiguan Rui called out to him, he ignored it, feigning absence.
It wasn’t until Qiguan Rui’s aura became dangerously unstable that he casually splashed the water to reveal himself. And then… Well, the rest was history.
Gu Bai didn’t regret it. He had thoroughly vented his frustrations and even flipped the usual dynamics, leaving him in a great mood.
Ignoring Qiguan Rui’s clinginess, Gu Bai pushed the man’s head aside and leapt out of bed.
Qiguan Rui, meanwhile, felt an inexplicable sense of desolation. As if he’d been used and discarded… Surely, that was just his imagination. To dispel the feeling, he jumped down too and began dressing Gu Bai.
Gu Bai spread his arms nonchalantly, enjoying the attention.
Once dressed, the two stepped out of the room, ready for breakfast—something that always followed their morning routine. But as they exited, they encountered two women from the neighbouring room.
Xin E stood silently, ever loyal due to the snake gu in her body. But Liu Manluo stared at the pair with a strange, probing gaze.
Gu Bai sensed something odd, especially when her eyes darted to their waists.
His poker face remained impassive, but he shot a cold glare her way, grabbed Qiguan Rui, and left without a word.
The woman’s gaze only grew more peculiar as they walked away.
Meanwhile, the Lu siblings had been searching for the lake containing their hidden treasure, using the mysterious key as their guide.
Qiguan Rui was in no rush, leisurely exploring the scenic lakes with Gu Bai and their two female companions.
Two days later, as they were rowing on a quiet, secluded lake, several figures burst from the water, collapsing at their feet. Unsurprisingly, it was the Lu siblings.
The protagonist’s law never fails.
