Xiao Gu, Maybe You’re Superman
“What do we need to arrange for the wedding?” Yu Xiaoxiao asked as she sat in the room.
“Bowing ceremony, marriage rites,” Gu Xinglang replied.
Yu Xiaoxiao thought for a moment and said, “We didn’t even have a proper ceremony.”
Gu Xinglang pulled her onto his lap. When they got married, he’d still been bedridden. Gu Xingyan had handled the wedding in his place. “I owe you,” he said softly.
Yu Xiaoxiao shrugged. “No such thing between us. We love each other, we’re together. Why waste money on ceremony?”
Gu Xinglang chuckled, resting his chin on her shoulder. No point expecting anything conventional from his wife.
Then Yu Xiaoxiao said, “Xiao Gu, have you noticed? You can move your feet now.”
Gu Xinglang blinked, testing his legs. Though still painful, they definitely moved.
“I saw you lift your foot earlier,” Yu Xiaoxiao said, sliding off his lap to crouch before him. She touched his left ankle. “Move it again.”
Gu Xinglang tried again. The motion was larger this time, and no increase in pain.
Yu Xiaoxiao narrowed her eyes. His recovery was way too fast. She took off his shoes, rolled up his pants, and unwrapped the bandages to examine the wounds.
“Is it almost healed?” Gu Xinglang asked.
The wound had closed beautifully, almost unnaturally fast. Antibiotics stopped infections, yes—but they didn’t speed up healing like this. Was it his physique? Something strange was going on.
“You’re healing too fast,” Yu Xiaoxiao muttered, frowning.
“Is that…bad?” Gu Xinglang asked, confused. “Isn’t that a good thing?”
Yu Xiaoxiao glanced at his other foot. Same condition. Fast, neat healing.
Gu Xinglang tried moving again—larger motion, still manageable. Yesterday, he couldn’t have done that.
After rewrapping the wounds and putting his shoes back on, Yu Xiaoxiao stood up and looked at him seriously. “Xiao Gu, maybe you’re Superman.”
Gu Xinglang looked puzzled. He understood “human,” but “superman”…?
Yu Xiaoxiao was just about to explain when the steward ran up.
She narrowed her eyes. “Did Mo Wen come to kill again?”
The steward blinked, not even registering the name. “Third Young Master, General Li is here.”
“Let him in,” Gu Xinglang said. Li Wan was still living here, so her brother visiting made sense.
“And… Xiong Xiong’s back too,” the steward added.
“Oh?” Yu Xiaoxiao raised an eyebrow. “Now that’s going to be fun.” Would the Li boy kill Xiong Xiong on the spot?
“I better go,” Gu Xinglang said, suddenly uneasy. If Li Yuanle lost it and chopped up the would-be groom, that’d be a disaster.
“I’m going too,” Yu Xiaoxiao followed, excited for the drama.
Watching the two servants carry Gu Xinglang, Yu Xiaoxiao thought, At this rate, I won’t need to build a wheelchair. By the time it’s done, he’ll be walking.
When Li Yuanle saw Yu Xiaoxiao escorting Gu Xinglang out to meet him, he looked visibly flattered. “Thank you, Princess.”
“No need,” she said. “You’re Xiao Gu’s brother.”
The general smiled. For a soldier, living with a wife like Linglong Princess? Now that was the good life.
Gu Xinglang couldn’t return the smile. He just hoped the guy wouldn’t pull a sword on Xiong Xiong.
Yu Xiaoxiao whispered, “You’re here for your sister?”
Li Yuanle whispered back, “Brother Xingnuo called me to discuss something.”
Yu Xiaoxiao blinked. “Big brother left this morning with Grandpa and Second Brother and still hasn’t returned. What are you supposed to discuss? Can’t you talk to us?”
Li Yuanle wiped his face, realizing this was the woman who smuggled his sister out of the palace.
Gu Xinglang said, “Big Brother should be back soon. Better wait for him.”
Li Yuanle glanced at Gu Xinglang—yeah, this guy was an accomplice too.
Yu Xiaoxiao asked her husband, “We’re not interfering in this?”
“Nope,” Gu Xinglang replied plainly.
Well then. She turned to Li Yuanle. “You eaten?”
…Li Yuanle blinked. How did we get here?
“Have you?” Yu Xiaoxiao repeated.
He shook his head. “Not yet.”
“Then eat with us later,” she said. “Big brother’s rich now!”
Everyone in Fengjing had heard about the Huixin Bank heist. Of course Li Yuanle knew. But what did that have to do with eating?
Gu Xinglang had the servants stop at the corner of the corridor and told Li Yuanle, “You go ahead. The Princess and I will stay here.”
Yu Xiaoxiao even pointed the way. “Go forward and turn left.”
“I know the way,” Li Yuanle said with a smile.
At that moment, Xiong Xiong came running from the opposite side.
Gu Xinglang immediately facepalmed. I sent word to have him avoid this place—how did they still run into each other?
Li Yuanle’s smile vanished in an instant. “You scoundrel!”
Xiong Xiong wanted to bolt—but then remembered he was about to marry Li Wan. Why should he run? Still, when he saw his future brother-in-law’s face, he hesitated. Yep, that guy still looked like he wanted to kill him.
